OUR HELP COMES FROM THE LORD
Why Do We Pray?
For starters, it might help to explain what prayer is: prayer is essentially talking with God. You can pray in church, at home, or wherever you are, by yourself or with other people. The Bible tells us God is very interested in our lives, our cares and worries, and our hopes and dreams. The Creator of the universe actually listens to us – and responds!
TO KNOW GOD
We build a relationship with God through prayer. We can even get to know His Word by praying Scriptures such as the Psalms.
TO LIFT UP OTHERS
Praying with and for others can encourage and comfort them in their time of need.
TO WORSHIP GOD
Praying to thank God for the awesome things He has done and for His lovingkindness to us is acually worship!
15 Days of Prayer Project
People Who Pray
Members – young and mature – were invited to share their insights and reflections on aspects of their prayer life. Each video is about 4 mins long and we found them refreshing and encouraging. We hope you do too!
A SIMPLE, POWERFUL PRAYER
Jesus Taught Us How to Pray
Jesus’ disciples once asked Him how to pray, and He taught them this simple and powerful prayer (story in Matthew 6:7-13 MSG):
“Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best –
as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.”
