Read 3 John 1-3
“The elder,
To my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, just as you are progressing spiritually. 3 It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it.” (NIVUK)
John again starts his letter off as the Elder, however unlike in 2 John, John greets Gaius warmly as a friend and sends his love. John shows how a good discipleship relationship should work, grounded and loving in Christ as can be seen in the next 3 verses.
Thinking about your journey as a Christian, can you identify someone in your life like John? Do you have someone in your life now who you can trust as a mentor? Can you be someone like John to someone you know?
