Read Jude 1-2
“Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James,
To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:
2 Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.” (NIVUK)
How do you define yourself? Jude could have chosen to big-note himself as one of Christ’s brothers. However, he calls himself a servant of Christ first, and then rather than calling himself the brother of Jesus, refers to himself as the brother of James—who *was* Jesus’ brother.
Jude knew that above all, being a servant of Christ was the more worthy title. He chose to let Christ be shown more than himself, and not to store up riches or accolades on earth.
Is Jesus foremost in our lives? When we go to our jobs, are we a servant of Christ first—and then our profession?
