Monday 13th November
“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)
The triumphal procession is a new way of describing the activity of the Spirit in our city. I am glad that Christ is leading and not relying on me. The image of the fragrance of the gospel moving through Armidale is a powerful one and makes me realise that I don’t pray often enough for this city’s inhabitants. Paul also reminds us that we cannot tell who will be saved and who will ignore the good news but we can give thanks that Jesus is with us as we share our lives with those around us. Let’s pray daily for the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of friends and neighbours.
