Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (NIVUK)
The inextricable link between belief and behaviour becomes evident once more. The wise response in any situation is guided by saturating oneself in the Scripture and all that it tells us about Jesus and the grace He extends to us. Paul maintains that the purpose of Scripture is to equip God’s people for good work. In other words, Scripture brings God’s people to maturity, for that is one of the ways we can understand what Paul meant by ‘thoroughly’. How has that worked out in practice for you?
