Friday 10th November
“I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:4-9)
This prayer provides an interesting insight into the needs of all of us that walk the way of Jesus. Again, Paul is giving thanks for what God has done in these new believers by showing them grace through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. Paul recognises and gives thanks for what God has done and will do in the Corinthians lives. These are changes that enrich the lives of these people, that supplies the gifts needed in the fellowship, and the sustaining power of Christ work to bring forgiveness. Notice the last sentence of the prayer – thankfulness for God’s faithfulness in establishing and ensuring our relationship with Jesus. Is this a constant aspect of my thanksgiving for what I see in the lives of my fellow believers?
