Sunday 12th November
“And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11)
This is a favourite prayer of mine and I doubt I am the only one. Somehow it captures the desires we as Christ’s followers have for those close to us; that they might have a deepening relationship with Jesus and be transformed to be like Him, being like we were always meant to be before the fall. I am sure there are many parents who pray something similar each day for their children (of whatever age) and many pastors that pray this prayer for the people they shepherd. It’s a great prayer model to use when praying through the church family prayer list and beyond!
