Read 2 John 9
“Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.” (NIVUK)
Headlights are a wonderful thing, especially when it is a moonless night and kangaroos are about. So it would be very foolish to rig them to shine behind you. David says in Psalm 119:105 that God’s word is lamp for our feet, and so is the teaching and love of Jesus for us. If we choose to ignore the teachings and word of God and just presume to know the path, we are not following the truth and we do not have the God in us.
