Read 2 Timothy 3:10-11
“You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings – what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.” (NIVUK)
There is a constant challenge held out to us as we reflect on Paul’s very personal letter to Timothy. Do our deeds match our words? With false teachers attacking the early church from every side and in many ways it would be simpler to choose words that are easily matched by a safe and comfortable lifestyle. Or even to choose the ‘right’ words but avoid the lifestyle that accompanies them. Yet Paul so fully shared his life with Timothy that nothing was hidden. Paul’s words and life matched fully.
Do our deeds and words match as well? Can we witness as fully to the Lord’s salvation, His rescue?
