Read Ephesians 3:20-21
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (NIVUK)
Paul finishes his prayer with a stunning benediction. God’s power within us is beyond our comprehension. Paul knows we do not even have the imagination to grasp how much more God is able to do for us. Many of us barely give this truth a second glance. CS Lewis gives us a vivid picture of just this conundrum. We settle too easily.
“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea.
