Read Ephesians 3:10-12
“His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” (NIVUK)
The discord in the heavens, that made its way to the earth, was always intended to be dealt with through Jesus. The surprising aspect of the solution is that the church itself, with its fractiousness and struggles, was the means by which God’s wisdom would be revealed in the heavens! The church itself, its very existence, is the testament to God’s sovereign solution.
Imagine hearing that message. Opposed on many sides, often discordant within, the restoration and reconciliation that provides so much hope to so many is what creation itself has been longing for. The heavens and the earth restored and renewed and lowly church folk are at the heart of it. Because God always intended this, through all the ages of time, we can have boldness and confidence in coming before the King of the universe.
As someone wise has said, we need to get our head around the fact that God does not declare He would make ‘all new things’, He declares He would make ‘all things new’. The church is witness, in the joining together of Jew and Gentile in Jesus, that He is indeed making all things new.
